Officials identify remains found in Thomasville
THOMASVILLE, NC (AP) — North Carolina officials have identified one set of remains found near Thomasville last month.
Officials say the decomposed body found Dec. 20 was that of 38-year-old Tonya Lynn Clark.
Officials say they don’t think there is any connection with remains found a day earlier in the city. Those remains have not been identified.
Clark’s body was identified after the remains were sent to the North Carolina Office of Chief Medical Examiner.
The cause of death has not been determined. Officials do not think foul play was involved.
Officials think the body had been in the woods since early September.
Thomasville Police Lt. Kimberly Sebastian says investigators are awaiting results from the medical examiner’s office to identify the second body.
