Officials release cause of house fire

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Officials with the Wilmington Fire Department have determined the cause of a house fire Monday night.

Investigators determined the fire at 5048 Park Ave. was accidental and caused by improperly discarded smoking material.

Neighbors helped save two pets trapped in the home during the fire.
