Officials to euthanize dogs found in NC trailer
ASHEVILLE — Officials say most of the 120 dogs taken from a mobile home in western North Carolina will be put to death because they are too dangerous to be adopted.
The animals were seized in Madison County last week after animal control officers visited the dwelling several times. The Asheville Citizen-Times reported Tuesday that animal control officers have started euthanizing the dogs.
Madison County Commission Chairman Dyatt Smathers says the dogs were too aggressive and dangerous to be adopted and officials were concerned that they had diseases that could spread in the county animal shelter.
The woman who owned the dogs hasn’t been charged, but authorities continue to investigate.
