Ohio woman drowns at Wrightsville Beach

WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (WWAY) — An evening swim turned deadly last night at Wrightsville Beach. Police say an Ohio woman drowned while swimming in the ocean near the 700 block of South Lumina Avenue.

Investigators say 45-year-old Lisa Shea of Gahanna, Ohio, had been swimming with family around 8:45 p.m. when they lost sight of her. She was found unresponsive in the water about 10 minutes later by people walking by. Law enforcement and medical staff performed CPR, but Shea was pronounced dead a short time later.
