Oleander gas leak ties up traffic, causes evacuation

WILMINGTON — A gas leak on oleander drive tied up traffic and forced an evacuation Friday morning.

A private construction crew cut through a two-inch main gas line around 10 a.m. Friday.

Traffic had to be re-routed while Piedmont Natural Gas crews turned off the gas and capped the leak.

A church filled with children had to be evacuated for a short time.
