One hospitalized after being struck by kite in Sunset Beach

SUNSET BEACH, NC (StarNews) — A person sustained a neck injury after being struck by a kite Tuesday on Sunset Beach.

According to StarNews, the incident happened at 5:08 p.m. on the beach strand near 32nd Street, according to Sunset Beach Fire Department Deputy Chief Richard Childres. The fire department and beach patrol received a report of a traumatic injury after a kite being used by a kite-surfer reportedly struck someone in the head.

“The patient was transported to the Hospital with a possible severe neck injury,” Childres wrote in an email.

The victim’s condition and identity were not released Wednesday.
