Two injured during afternoon shooting in Wilmington

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Police are investigating after a shooting in Wilmington Wednesday afternoon.

Wilmington Police Department says the shooting happened just after 1:00 p.m. near 13th & Greenfield streets.

Officers responded to a Shotspotter alert near the Houston Moore housing community. That’s where they found one person shot and discovered a second victim had been taken to the hospital.

Police say witnesses told them the shooter approached the two men outside and fired several rounds at them and then took off in a van or SUV.

Police earlier said they were looking for a gold van, but their latest news release said they are still trying to narrow down an exact description of the suspect vehicle.
