One Tree Hill returning to Wilmington

WILMINGTON — One Tree hill is returning to Wilmington next year.

Members of the film commission say this week’s announcement that the show will continue for another season means good things for Wilmington’s economy.

Twenty-two new episodes will air next season.

The film commission says one episode generates about $1 million.

One Tree Hill also creates jobs for about 125 people.

Wilmington Film Commission Director Johnny Griffin said, “They’ve got approximately 1,500 vendors in this town that they’re doing business with. That’s everything from the grocery store to convenience store to hardware store, florists the dry cleaners. That’s a lot of businesses that one company is spending their money with while they’re in town.”

Griffin says another season of the show is an added opportunity to promote the area and bring more films and television shows here.

One Tree Hill will start shooting their fifth season in July.
