One killed, one hurt in Brunswick crash

One man is dead and another is in the hospital after a head-on collision in Brunswick County. It happened around 11 a.m. on Old Georgetown Road between Sunset Beach and Ocean Isle Beach.

According to Highway Patrol, an 85-year-old man was heading south when he veered off the road and overcorrected, hitting 77-year-old Robert Gurganus of Ocean Isle Beach. Gurganus was flown to New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

The 85-year-old who died had a medical condition. Investigators are not releasing his name until they can notify his family.
