One killed, one wounded in Wilmington shooting

At about 6:30 Monday night, multiple gun shots startled neighbors near Tenth and Hall Streets in downtown Wilmington. While what happened is not exactly clear, police said two men were shot. One was found inside the home, the other ran, and was spotted at a house a block away.

Both men were taken to New Hanover Regional Medical Center; one man later died from his injuries. About an hour after the shootings, a third man with a gun shot wound showed up at the hospital. Investigators have not yet figured out where, or if, he fits into all of this.

“It’s dangerous around that section round there. It’s all the drug dealers, all the drugs and dope and everything goes on around that area,” said neighbor “Morris”.

Police are still searching for a motive and are piecing together clues hoping to find out who is responsible.

The name of the victims have not been released. Anyone with information is asked to call the Wilmington Police Department at 343-3600.
