One more win earns Pender a state title in high school football
Pender has never won a state title in football, nor has head coach Tom Eanes. They’re just one victory away from changing that fact though. For Pender to be successful Friday night in Chapel Hill the Patriots will have to run the ball with authority, but that shouldn’t be a problem. After all, the Patriots have four different backs with more than a thousand yards or rushing this season: Javon Powell, Derrick Holmes, Josh Johnson and Shaq Hooper.
Even though the state title game won’t be played until Friday night the Patriots will head up interstate 40 on Thursday. The team will practice at Elon Thursday afternoon.
Kickoff is set for 7:30pm on Friday in Chapel Hill at Kenan Stadium. WWAY plans on providing highlights of the game on Friday’s 11pm newscast with analysis from John Rendleman & Trot Nixon.
