Missing items total $242K for school system

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — As families get ready to start school either next week or next month we’ve learned there are a lot of items missing from New Hanover County Schools.

D.C. Virgo takes up a significant portion of that list. According to the list, 89 iPads are missing at a total cost of more than $36,000.

New Hanover County Schools spokeswoman Valita Quattlebaum said they have filed a police report and insurance claims for those iPads. Quattlebaum added that the list has not yet been reviewed by auditors and makes up 1 percent of the school system’s assets.

Each of the county’s four high schools have tens of thousands of dollars in missing items as well.

A total of 262 items are missing from Pre-K programs to middle and high schools.
