ONLY ON 3 UPDATE: Bus driver investigation ‘resolved’

LELAND, NC (WWAY) — A spokeswoman with Brunswick County Schools says their investigation into the school bus driver who ran a red light is now done. Spokeswoman Jessica Swencki tells WWAY that action has been taken and the matter is resolved.

Dash cam video was taken by a viewer on Village road last Thursday of a school bus running a red light.

Swencki says students were not on the bus. The driver had finished their route and was heading back to the evening parking location. The driver takes students to and from Leland Middle School and North Brunswick High School.

Swencki could not go into details about who the driver is or the action that was taken, but after a public records request, WWAY learned no drivers have been suspended or fired in the past day.

Swencki gave examples of action that could be taken if there’s not a suspension or termination. She says a personnel conference, letter of reprimand, or retraining are some of those examples.
