ONLY ON 3: Wilmington City Council considers creating position during budget crisis

WILMINGTON (WWAY) – During Tuesday evening’s City Council meeting, council discussed creating a Code Enforcement Officer position to oversee video sweepstakes parlors in the city.

The position would most likely pay approximately $55,000.

So far, very little or no crimes have been committed at any of the sweepstakes parlors in town.

Nadine is tracking down more information on why some council members think we need to create this new position at a time when the city is in a budget crisis – and will have the story for you later on WWAY NewsChannel 3 at 500p and 600p.
