Oprah show to feature NC Research Campus founder

KANNAPOLIS — “The Oprah Winfrey Show” will feature the 85-year-old founder of the N.C. Research Campus when the show does a segment on “extreme life extension.”

The Salisbury Post reported that the show featuring campus founder David Murdock will air Tuesday. The billionaire founder of Dole Food Co. developed the $1.5 billion research campus in Kannapolis to help people lead longer, healthier lives.

Camera crews filmed Winfrey visiting Murdock at his California Health and Longevity Institute in Westlake Village, about 35 miles northwest of Los Angeles.

Producers also spent eight hours at the campus on March 1 to get footage that filmed seven scientists.

Murdock has said that his wife’s death in 1985 motivated him to found the research campus.
