Orton Plantation burning 600+ acres Tuesday

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Do you see or smell smoke? It’s probably from the control burn happening at Orton Plantation today.

According to a news release, Orton Plantation is conducting controlled burning on 639 acres as part of its management plan to improve forest health and restore longleaf pine habitat.

The controlled burns will take place between Monday and May 1.
