Orton Plantation being sold, renovated

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A state landmark in Brunswick County has a new owner. The Laurence Sprunt family announced today it is selling Orton Plantation after owning it for 126 years.

The buyer is Louis Moore Bacon, who is a direct descendant of Roger Moore, who built the original Orton home in 1725.

Bacon plans to restore the house and renovate the grounds. To do it, the gardens at Orton Plantation will be closed indefinitely starting June 1.
