Panel named to find new tenant for NC Dell plant

WINSTON-SALEM — A panel assigned to find a new tenant for the Dell Inc. computer assembly plant near Winston-Salem includes an official from Dell.

The Winston-Salem Journal reported that Mayor Allen Joines formed the task force, whose members include officials from the North Carolina Commerce Department.

Winston-Salem Business Inc. president Bob Leak is a task force member and says the plant has about 70,000 square feet. It has an open architecture and truck access on two sides.

Leak says the building will be attractive to small number of companies because of its size.

Dell plans to close in January, putting 900 people out of work.
