Park service celebrating Wilbur Wright’s birthday
KILL DEVIL HILLS, N.C. — The National Park Service is celebrating the 142nd anniversary of flight pioneer Wilbur Wright’s birth with a family fun day at the Wright Brothers National Memorial.
The celebration will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday at the memorial on the North Carolina Outer Banks.
Wilbur Wright was born in 1867 near Millville, Ind. He and his younger brother Orville flew in their motorized plane on the morning of Dec. 17, 1903, at Big Kill Devil Hill.
Park entrance fees will be waived for the event.
