Paroled man wanted for November shooting arrested

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A Brunswick County man wanted for a shooting last fall is back behind bars.

Deontray Treamelle Bryant, 26, of Ash, was booked into the Brunswick County Jail Friday night. He is charged with assault with a deadly weapon, failure to appear and felony possession of cocaine. Deputies had been looking for Bryant, who was on parole, in connection to a shooting at a Shallotte bar in late November.

Bryant was also charged in the summer of 2012 for a shooting in Brunswick County. US Marshals arrested him and another suspect days later in Louisiana. The NC Department of Correction website shows Bryant was convicted of assault, assault with a deadly weapon and possession of a firearm by a felon in October 2013 and sentenced to 15 to 27 months in prison, but released on parole in February 2014.

According to court records, Bryant has other pending charges, including drug possession and communicating threats. He is in jail under more than $1 million bond.
