Parsley Elementary students place top 10 in nation in academic competition
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A group of elementary students in New Hanover County are now 7th in the nation after winning big at a national vocabulary competition.
According to a release from New Hanover County Schools, the Parsley Elementary team were involved in the WordMasters Challenge competition. The competition involves about 150,000 students each year, the release said. Fourth grader Ryden Read and fifth graders Giovanni Martucci and Jake Persuit each scored a perfect score of 20 on the challenge, which only 50 fourth graders and 52 fifth graders achieved nationally.
The WordMasters Challenge is great for kids who like the challenge of learning new words and enjoying logic puzzles.
