Parsley students spice up science
Third, fourth and fifth graders showed off their science skills Friday in Wilmington, as Parsley Elementary students participated in their first science fair.
There were many different exhibits and included researching which popcorn brand pops the most kernels. The study showed Orville Redenbacher beat its competitors. “I wanted to see which one popped the most popcorn popped at the end, because I don’t like to see the kernels,” said ten-year-old Melissa Williams.
Another winning exhibit tested people’s honesty.
Mitchell Trafton explained, “We did ‘Are People Honest When it Comes to Money?’ And most of the people were honest, but half of them weren’t.”
Winners received certificates for their hard work and will go on to compete at the county science fair.
