Participants wanted for next Wilmington’s Got Talent
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington Central Rotary seeks aspiring performers of all ages to participate in their annual hometown variety show fundraiser, Wilmington’s Got Talent on November 4. Participants must be an amateur performer living in New Hanover, Pender or Brunswick Counties, and participate in a dress rehearsal on November 3. In addition to seeking participants, Wilmington Central Rotary is also accepting event sponsorships.
The event will be held Friday, November 4 at 7 p.m. at Thalian Hall and will spotlight area singers, dancers, musicians, magicians and other talent. All proceeds will benefit the Girls Leadership Academy of Wilmington (GLOW) and will be used to purchase computers, computer carts, and software licenses. GLOW is the first single gender charter school in North Carolina and “seeks to close the achievement and opportunity gaps for first generation, college-bound young women.”
The 2015 Wilmington’s Got Talent event raised $18,000 to purchase reclining chairs for each of the pediatric patient rooms at New Hanover Regional Medical Center’s Women and Children’s Hospital to make overnight hospital stays more comfortable for parents or caregivers.
“Wilmington Central Rotary is excited to bring back Wilmington’s Got Talent this year as we feature the many wonderfully talented people and undiscovered entertainers in this city. It’s going to be a lot of fun for all involved.” said Louise McColl, Wilmington Central Rotary event chair.
