Paula Broadwell says she’s returning to her faith
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) – The reservist whose affair with former CIA Director David Petraeus led to his resignation says she’s made mistakes in her past, but is trying to look forward with her family.
Paula Broadwell attended the annual YMCA prayer breakfast in Charlotte and said the message hit home. Broadwell said the breakfast focused on redemption and slowing down in life and finding purpose.
Broadwell said she grew up in a strong, faith-based family and has decided to return to those roots for strength, as well as serving the community.
Petraeus resigned in November 2012 after acknowledging the extramarital affair, which was exposed after Broadwell emailed Tampa socialite Jill Kelley, allegedly warning Kelley to stay away from Petraeus and Gen. John Allen, the U.S. commander in Afghanistan.
