Peacemaker crew enjoying Port City visit
If you’ve been down to the Wilmington Riverfront this week, you’ve probably noticed the 150-foot tall ship the Peacemaker. The 15 crew members arrived in the Port City Tuesday for the Azalea Festival after spending the winter in Savannah.
The ship is run by the 12 Tribes, which are faith-based communities from around the world who believe in sharing all they have to take care of one another.
The crew says the public has made them feel very welcome.
“I really appreciate cities like this, like Wilmington, that are so accommodating, that have a nice downtown waterfront,” ship engineer Zakar Muller said. “And we appreciate everyone coming out and being as nice as they are.”
The peacemaker will be in Wilmington until April 19. Touring the ship is free, but donations keep them operating and are greatly appreciated.
