Pender Co. commissioners approve Parks Foundation
PENDER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Some good news about Pender County parks and recreation!
County commissioners have approved the creation of the Parks Foundation.
The goal is to assist in parks and recreation development throughout the county.
It is a 501(c)(3) non-profit with oversight by a board of directors similar to what’s at the county library.
Planning and Community Development Director Kyle Breuer says it will operate exclusively to improve Pender County parks.
He says it gives, “another avenue to develop, promote and enhance cultural and recreational opportunities in the county.”
“Pender County parks are near and dear to my heart,” said David Williams, Pender County commissioner. “I’m strongly in favor of improving our parks and offering programming that benefits our entire community.”
The current county parks and recreation advisory board will serve as the first foundation board of directors, said Breuer.
