Pender Co. Sheriff sergeant arrested, fired over domestic dispute

PENDER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Pender County Sheriff’s Office says one of their own was arrested after being involved in a domestic dispute.

Sergeant Daniel Stone with the patrol unit was arrested at his home on Johnson Nursery road in Willard on September 30, according to PCSO.

The victim told deputies she was physically assaulted by Stone during the dispute. Investigators reportedly found evidence that an assault happened and issued warrants for Stone’s arrest.

Stone was charged with assault on a female and assault by strangulation.

Stone was held at the New Hanover County Jail under a $10,000 secured bond. He bonded out after his first court appearance in Pender County on Monday.

PCSO says Stone is no longer employed with the sheriff’s office. He had been with the department since May 2004.
