Pender County girl to shine during Christmas light show
PENDER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A Pender County Christmas light show is adding a special addition this year.
Despite the obstacles one little girl faces she will be the brightest light on opening night for Lake Linda’s Christmas Light show.
“This will be the first year we have a special grand opening,” Kayleigh is going to turn on all the lights for us,” one of Lake Linda’s Christmas Lights organizers Tonia Register said.
For the past three years, six-year-old Kayleigh Andrews has made her mom drive through Lake Linda’s Christmas Lights over and over again.
It is her favorite holiday tradition.
“The first time she came once and then it was twice and then it’s up to five. She would go around non-stop if we didn’t make her stop,” Kayleigh’s mom Amanda Andrews said.
Now this year the tradition will be one to never forget.
“This is a special Christmas for me,” Kayleigh Andrews said.
Kayleigh is getting the honors of turning on all the lights for the grand opening. Something she said she is excited for.
“I hope like a lot of people are here and I hope they like it,” Kayleigh said.
Organizers of the lights made Kayleigh a special elf outfit just for her for the big night as well as a new dinosaur light display with a blue bow for juvenile arthritis.
“When we found out about Kayleigh and all the special stuff she goes through she’s just too adorable, so we decide this year normally we just cut um on and OK come through when you want to, but we decided we wanted to do something special for her,” Register said.
Kayleigh has juvenile arthritis, but she doesn’t let anything stop her especially from seeing the lights.
“She’s the best, my best friend,” Kayleigh said.
Opening night of Lake Linda’s Christmas Lights is next Thursday on Thanksgiving and they run until New Years.
Lake Linda’s Christmas Lights is located at 218 Old House Road, Hampstead NC 28443.
It is free to go through the lights, but you can donate a toy for Toys for Tots.
