Pender County Spot Festival draws in thousands

PENDER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The North Carolina Spot Festival gave people plenty to do this weekend.

The two-day festival celebrates the spot fish, which is a stable in the area, with various dinners and other regional food. Aside from fish, the fun-filled event had live entertainment, arts and crafts, bouncy houses and even camel rides.

It’s an eventful tradition Pender County has seen for quite some time.

“It’s all for the community, our community has started it 53 years ago and it’s just a tradition we’re gonna keep going just as long as we can.” Chairman Lynn Lanier said.

Organizers say about 20,000 to 40,000 people attended this years festival.
