Pender man charged with more child sex crimes, more victims possible

PENDER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) –  Investigators say a Pender County man already charged with multiple child sexual assault crimes faces additional charges involving a third child.

Deputies arrested Haywood Elwood Garner, 69, on Tuesday and charged him with First Degree Sex Offense with a Child and Indecent Liberties with a child.

Garner was first charged in October with child sex crimes involving a 4-year-old victim.

Investigators say the new charges stem from offenses that took place between 2003 and 2006 involving a child under the age of 12.

Garner’s bail was increased by $550,000.00.

He remains in the Pender County Jail with a bail set at $1,575,000.

Investigators believe there might be additional victims.
