Pender sheriff candidate’s DWI case continued to after Election Day
PENDER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Pender County sheriff candidate Scott Lawson was back in court on charges of DWI and reckless driving, but a judge continued the case until after Election Day.
Lawson was arrested in April of 2014 for allegedly driving through an intersection and into a yard, hitting two parked cars. The 49-year-old had blood drawn to determine what impaired him that night, deputies said. Those blood test results have still not come back, and that was why the judge granted the continuance.
Lawson, who is running as a Democrat, according to the Pender County Board of Elections, used to work for the Pender County Sheriff’s Office as a detective.
Lawson is due back in court November 19th.
