PETERSBURG, VA (CFCC RELEASE) — The Sea Devils showed resiliency Tuesday afternoon and came from behind twice to pick up a 3-2 result against Richard Bland College on the road in Petersburg, Va.
With the game tied at two Mamadou Kelleh found space inside the penalty area and headed home a free kick off the foot of Zach Von Ropp for the game-winner. “I’m real proud of the way my guy fought through and found a way to win,” said CFCC Coach Chris Libert. “It’s always tough to go on the road and get a result, but we responded and took command of the match in the final minutes.
After both teams played to a scoreless first half Richard Bland went up 1-0 for the one goal advantage, but Brian Pinder equalized seven minutes later for Cape Fear on an assist by Tyus Lopez.
The home side made it 2-1 in the 67th minute until CJ Morales found the back of the net for the Sea Devils on a penalty kick to set up the game-winner three minutes later by Kelleh. Dakota Moore made seven stops in goal for the Sea Devils.
Cape Fear moved to 4-9-1 in conference and 8-9-1 overall as the Sea Devils look to get back to the .500 mark in their regular season finale at home against USC-Lancaster on Sunday, Oct. 26.
