Pender Co. parents want answers regarding principal’s suspension
BURGAW, NC (WWAY) – The Pender County School Board heard from frustrated parents Monday night regarding the suspension of Burgaw Middle School Principal M.D. Coleman.
Parents and students, many wearing red to show solidarity, told the board how upset they were about his suspension, just one week before end of grade exams. The board went into closed session at the end of its regular meeting. After adjourning, Board Chair Tom Roper said he would not comment on any issue or questions about Coleman.
Many parents are frustrated and want answers. They also say Coleman’s contract expires this year and he’d be up for possible renewal, furthering the question as to why the board didn’t let him finish out the school year with just weeks left.
Roper would not comment on that either.
