Pender County prepares for possible budget cuts
Until area school districts get some answers from the state on possible budget cuts, school officials are preparing for the worst.
School leaders in Pender County have been working on a budget plan, preparing the county for an 11 percent reduction in state funding. That translates to a four million dollar loss for schools.
That means the loss of numerous teachers and teaching assistants, administrators, and a reduction in central office staff.
Other impacts may include consolidating bus routes, cutting out days in the school year, to college prep course programs.
