Pender High holds massive reunion to help classmates keep in touch
Many of us have attended a class reunion of some sort, but this weekend one local high school welcomed more than thirty classes back to school.
Pender High School held a massive reunion for anyone who ever attended the school, which opened in 1976. The event was organized in an attempt to bring together old classmates who have lost touch over the years.
The weekend-long event featured a number of events including an alumni basketball game, a retro dance, as well as an outdoor picnic with plenty of food and music. Organizers said they wanted to make sure people stay in touch.
“We want to try and figure out where everybody’s at. Throughout the course of the years, people have lost loved ones and some of our classmates have passed on. We kind of just want to keep in touch with everybody who ever attended Pender High School,” said organization committee member Sabrina Wooten.
Organizers used the internet to find alums now living across the country and bring them back to Pender County for the reunion.
The event also served as an attempt to raise money for more elective programs at the school.
