People ask to gather for peace at local park

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Many says after the election our country was divided.

That’s exactly how one local woman felt so she has decided to hold an event called Wilmington’s Gathering for Peace.

Lauren Krouse says her family was fractured by the outcome of the presidential election which motivated her to make a difference.

She says after starting a Facebook event the support just poured in.

Speakers, poets, musicians, and several non-profits will fill Maides Park in Wilmington Saturday for what Krouse is calling a peace festival.

“Ultimately we all have the same goals and I think that’s peace and connection and community and I just want one day where we focus of that,” Krouse said.

The event starts at 2 p.m. and will last until 6.

Krouse says this is a way to get involved with peaceful activism and take all the energy you may have and direct it in a positive way.
