PERFECT-PERFECT: WBHS student with perfect GPA has never missed a class
SHALLOTTE, NC (WWAY) — West Brunswick High School Senior Lora Kinlaw is pulling off a rare feat. School officials say she has a perfect 4.0 GPA and will graduate with a perfect attendance record.
Brunswick County Schools spokeswoman Jessica Swencki says Lora takes advanced placement courses, is an award-winning art student, runs track and cross-county and holds down a part-time job in Shallotte. She says on June 9, Lora will add a perfect-perfect attendance to her resume!
Lora has attended school every day since her first day of kindergarten at Union Elementary School in 2004.
Lora credits her mother Rosetta Kinlaw for setting the expectation that she and her younger sister, a ninth grader at West Brunswick High School, would attend school each day.
“If you gotta do something… just show up and do it,” Lora said about attending school every day and the life lessons it taught her.
She says the expectation to come to school everyday taught her the importance of being reliable.
After graduation Lora will attend Brunswick Community College for her associates degree with plans to transfer to UNC Wilmington.
