Pharmacies begin giving third dose of COVID-19 vaccine for immunocompromised
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WPDE) — Walgreens and CVS pharmacies are now offering a third dose of COVID-19 vaccines after the FDA and CDC gave the green light for people who are immunocompromised to get the extra shot.
The Food and Drug Administration authorized an extra dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines this week, to better protect people with weakened immune systems from the virus. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) updated their recommendation Friday to say those people may benefit from an additional dose, making sure they have enough protection against COVID-19.
