Picasso exhibition opens at Yale, moves to Nasher

DURHAM — An exhibition examining Pablo Picasso’s relationship with writers is opening at the Yale University Art Gallery this week, then heads to the Nasher Museum in Durham this summer.

“Picasso and the Allure of Language” opens Tuesday at the Yale gallery, where it continues through May 24. The exhibit then will show Aug. 20 through Jan. 3, 2010, at the Nasher.

The exhibit at Yale includes about 70 works by Picasso in all media and focused on the ways language affected his work. It also includes photographs, letters and manuscripts from other artists and writers.

It’s drawn from collections at Yale and from the Raymond and Patsy Nasher collection in Dallas.
