Pilot dies in helicopter crash

A pilot is dead and a passenger injured after a helicopter crash in Monroe Thursday.

Authorities said they still do not know what caused the chopper to go down in a hay field, but do know it clipped a power line behind a school before it crashed.

46-year-old Mark Bartlett of Mint Hill died in the accident. A second man, Justin Travis, was taken to a nearby hospital and was awake and conscious after the crash.
