Plane heading to Bahamas makes emergency landing at ILM

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A plane heading to the Bahamas from Montreal made an emergency landing at Wilmington International Airport last night.

ILM’s airport director, John Rosborough, says a man who was complaining of chest pains prompted the unexpected landing. He says the passenger and his family were taken to the hospital while workers did mechanical checks because of the hard landing.

Rosborough says another plane and crew were called in to finish the flight to Freeport, Bahamas, which took off around 10:30 p.m. He says after routine checks, airport staff determined that the original plane was not damaged.
