Plane makes emergency landing on Duplin road

DUPLIN COUNTY, NC (WCTI) — Officials say a pilot had to make an emergency landing on a road in Duplin County Thursday afternoon.

EMS Director Reed Sutherland says they received a call at 2:28 p.m. that a Piper aircraft had landed on River Road.

Sutherland says the pilot, who was flying from Maryland to Wilmington, lost oil pressure and tried to land at Wallace Airport. Instead, he landed about two miles shy of the runway.

The pilot was flying alone, and neither he, nor anyone on the ground, was injured in the emergency landing.

The Piper aircraft that made the emergency landing was similiar to the one in the picture.
