Police: Argument with boyfriend ends with woman stabbing dog

WHITEVILLE, NC (WWAY) — A Whiteville woman faces an animal cruelty charge after police say she stabbed her pet dog.

Whiteville Police say last night Linda Faye Hickman, 29, was arguing with her boyfriend when she walked outside with a knife she took from the kitchen. Sgt. Bill Hinz says the couple’s pit bull followed Hickman and jumped up and put its paws on her. That’s when he says Hickman stabbed the dog.

Sgt. Hinz says Hickman’s boyfriend was taking the dog to a veterinarian, but so far there is no update on the extent of its injuries.

Hickman is out of jail on $1,000 bond charged with misdemeanor cruelty to animals.

A phone number for Hickman listed on her arrest warrant went to a wrong number. A correct listing for her could not immediately be found.
