Police: Duo waves car down, punches & robs men at gunpoint

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Police say an armed duo punched a man in the head and robbed him at gunpoint when he stopped his car on Market Street after seeing the suspects waving him down in the middle of the roadway.

Wilmington Police say it happened at 5:30 p.m. Thursday near the 1200 block of Market Street. That’s where they say the victim stopped his car to check on two men who jumped out into the street on his way to Family Dollar from a nearby hotel.

When the man rolled his windows down to talk to the men, police say one of the suspects pointed a gun at the two men in the car. Police say a robber punched one of the men in the head, then taking his cash and wallet. Officers say the robber hit him in the head once more before the duo took off running.
