Police find shell casings at scene of two shootings overnight

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Police are investigating after they say ShotSpotter led them to two different places in Wilmington where shell casings were found early this morning.

The first alert came in just before 4 a.m. in the 200 block of South 11th Street, where police found one round in the roadway. Officers say they spotted a party letting out nearby when they got to the scene, but they did not get any information from witnesses.

Police say they got the second shots fired alert just a couple minutes later in the 600 block of Bunting Drive. That’s where officers discovered three shell casings nearby, but they say no one was there when they got to the scene.

There’s no word yet on whether or not the two shootings are related.
