Police: Gang member shoots, hits car with baby inside

ELIZABETHTOWN, NC (WWAY) — Elizabethtown Police are looking for a gang member accused in a Martin Luther King Jr. Day shooting.

According to a news release, Meredith Jaquan Cromartie shot at another gang member in the area of Gill and MLK Drive around 4 p.m. Monday. That man wasn’t hit, but a car with four people inside was struck. No one was hurt in the car, including an infant.

Police said Cromarte is now facing five counts of attempted first degree murder, possession of a firearm by a felon and other charges.

Anyone with information leading to Cromarte’s arrest is asked to call Elizabethtown Police Department. They said when they searched his home yesterday, they found drugs and drug paraphernalia.
