Man identified in fatal Wilmington shooting

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington Police are investigating a shooting that left a 47 year old Wilmington man dead.

Wilmington Police identified the victim as Darrell Atkinson.

Police say Atkinson died of an apparent gunshot wound outside of a home in the 700 block of N. 11 St. around 7:40 p.m. Tuesday.

Witnesses say they saw two suspects leave the scene on foot heading south and then get into a black in color sports car. Police say one suspect is a man.
