Police investigate death of 16-month-old Spring Lake boy

SPRING LAKE, NC (AP) — Cumberland County deputies are investigating the death of a 16-month old Spring Lake boy found unconscious in a bath tub.

Authorities say the toddler was found inside a home at around 9:30 a.m. Monday and was pronounced dead at a hospital.

A spokeswoman for the sheriff’s office says the boy’s body has been sent for an autopsy to determine how he died.

The child’s name has not been released. Authorities say an adult was in the home at the time but didn’t say if it was one of the boy’s parents.
