Police investigate Saturday night shooting in Chadbourn
CHADBOURN, NC (WWAY) — Chadbourn police are investigating a shooting that happened near a police checkpoint Saturday night.
Police Chief Darrell Trivette said officers were working the checkpoint, around 10 p.m., near Brown and Railroad Streets when they heard shots nearby. When an officer arrived to the scene of the shots on West Smith and Wilkes Streets, shots were fired in his direction, according to Trivette.
Trivette said two men were shooting at each other and they took off after firing toward the officer. He said they have a location for one suspect and are still searching for the other. No arrests have been made.
According to the Chief, no one, including the officer, was injured in the shooting.
