Police investigating after man found on ground with gunshot wound

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington Police are investigating after a shooting sent a man to the hospital Monday night.

Police said officers responded to the area of the 900 block of North 30th Street after they got a ShotSpotter alert just before 11 p.m. That’s where they said they found a man with a gunshot wound on the ground near a sidewalk.

Police said the man, who is 33, was alert and conscious when he was taken to the hospital by EMS.

Officers also found a vehicle and trashcan that were hit by bullets. Police said they searched the area, but could not find a suspect.
